Day 122: Yesterday we sent students to Jerusalem, but because of the distance, they’re just arriving about now. When I get the message they’ve landed safely, there is always a sigh of relief. We spend four months preparing them for the journey, and when they land, I can leave them in the capable hands of our overseas counterparts and turn my concentration to the preparation of the next group. My mother was good at preparing her kids for journeys. She tucked little notes into our bags so we’d find them along the way. I remember unrolling an ACE bandage at Girls Camp one summer to find a note that said “Uh oh! If you’ve found this, there’s been an injury! Take care and know Dad and I are praying for you.” I tried to pass along the tradition, but never managed to reach her finesse. However, once in a while I will turn the page in my notebook to find a note a daughter has written for me to find, so maybe the concept stuck. And maybe these towels can serve as notes tucked into their luggage of life. Yesterday I said going away is good for us and going home is better. It seems the act of leaving home tucks the hope of returning home into our pockets for the journey. #MomsCompanyTowels #LoveNotes #LuggageNotes
