It's the simple summer memories that put a smile on my face #summer #memories #smile #quote

It is National Simplicity Day, Thanksday, and Hot Week, therefore, I am thankful for simple summer things . . . like Popsicles and wading pools. Of my four children, only one was born in summertime. My second son, Taylor. We were still living in our college apartment, which had a non-working AC unit embedded into the wall; an AC unit which was on the list for replacement the whole time we lived there. That summer pregnancy was not easy. We ate a lot of Popsicles. We purchased extra ice cube trays. My oldest child kindly resisted comments about his mother's super-swollen feet taking up residence in his blow-up wading pool. We went to movies we could't afford and browsed in the mall for items we didn't buy, just to get out of the heat.

Yet, even though I was pretty miserable at the time, I look at it now as one of my very favorite summers, because we made silly summer memories while we waited for our little ray of sunshine to light up our lives. It's the simple summer memories that put a smile on my face.
