Day 222: Twenty-seven years ago yesterday, we welcomed our second child into the world, and yesterday we boarded a plane with that child and his wonderful wife.
Taylor came into the world in a ruckus. A complication during his birth resulted in what seemed like 20 NICU people flooding the delivery room and whisking my seconds-old baby away. We were blessed that the trauma was short-lived and he was returned to us within the hour, but those moments were long and scary.
Taylor gave me a run for my money, as the saying goes. My mom told me to be patient with him. She said “There’s a full-grown spirit inside that little body. It makes them squirmy, but he’ll grow into his spirit before you know it.”
Somehow, 27 years have flown by since then, and my fragile little newborn is a hardworking provider and a student and a husband and a father with two little ones of his own. Mom was right. He grew into his spirit. And now he’s got two adorable little kiddos with spirits too big for their bodies.
Today, I’ll sit on the beach with him, and snorkel in the surf with him, and thank my Heavenly Father for babies that teach you more than you could ever teach them. #momscompanytowels #memorylane #bigspiritinalittlebody
