Day 330: Have you ever thought about what the term “taking stock” actually means?

To take stock is to “carefully think about how to proceed” and it originated from “counting the stock” or making an inventory of what you have. I learned these things from my mother, whose parents owned Mallory’s Department Store. I grew up listening to her recall the things she learned in the store.

This week I’m going to “take stock” of the tidbits of wisdom from the shelves of Mallory’s. Fair warning: It’s a big inventory.
